When the Romans take Pongailix, the Gaulish village bard, to Rome as a gift for Julius Caesar, Asterix and Obelix set off ona daring mission to rescue him. But Pongailix has been locked away in the Circus Maximus where an audience with the lions awaits him. Saving Pongailix from this terrible fate proves difficult for Asterix and Obelix – until they manage to find work guaranteed to give them a way into the arena.
